Wedding Style Profile - Lily and Jacky
Nov 03, 2011

Three words define Lily and Jacky’s very special relationship - Love. Fidelity. Friendship.
A year ago, they said goodbye to their jobs, friends and family to pursue a shared dream and ambition - explore the world and return with postgraduate degrees. Putting their resourcefulness to the test and trust in each other, they found themselves falling even more in love with each other whilst trekking on this exciting journey.
Jacky surprised Lily with a marriage proposal at a music concert in front of thousands of fans and even got a shout-out from their favourite singer! Very impressive, Jacky! So with dozens of assessments and exams between them, I was thrilled to be asked to help plan and style their Melbourne wedding.
Having first looked at a number of stunning gardens, Lily and Jacky decided nothing could surpass the experience of a beachfront ceremony, followed immediately by a cocktail luncheon reception for 60 of their closest friends and family. We were wonderfully hosted by Terri Hosking and her staff at Windows on the Bay in Mordialloc. We left food and wine design in the hands of their chef, and it was best thing we did! Food was amazing!
Although wet weather kept the ceremony inside that day, guests enjoyed panoramic views of the bay from the private dining room, and armed with tissues, held on to every word Mona said as she conducted a truly heartfelt but joyous wedding ceremony service. I particularly loved the reading of personal letters written to both their parents - a beautiful touch indeed.

I’m excited to share a few of my favourite photos here!
Lily adores bows and specifically requested this design for their wedding cake. I love that it’s different and quite untraditional, but suited their personalities so well!
The wait was finally over, and sweet pea in all shades of pink were in season! We arranged them with David Austins and other premium wedding roses in blush, pink and mocha, dusty miller, and a touch of geraldton wax for their petite petals.
The couple also requested for one of our signature Wishing Trees as a central feature in the dining room and a mini candy buffet - delicious!
I thought I’d show you this picture because once again, I love Lily’s quirkiness in picking out these untraditional black bridesmaids’ dresses - a stunning contrast in colour to the bridesmaids posies we created. It just reminds me once again that weddings are such personal celebrations - there’s no excuse to be boring, and certainly no excuse not to have a bit of fun! What do you think? :)
Did you know that honey lasts forever? Well, unless you consume it, but that’s besides the point! With this sentiment in mind, the couple gave each guest a jar of pure Australian honey to take home. The words on it - Love. Fidelity. Friendship.
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Lily and Jacky, it was an absolute pleasure and honour to be your wedding planner and stylist for your Melbourne wedding! May life lead you both to many exciting places and more wonderful experiences. Lots of love, Joanie xoxo
